Workstation role and effect
Rusty Knife is the opening entry in the nine-row upgrade ledger and serves as the first replacement for the starting blade at the indoor kitchen counter. When you begin a fresh shift in Potato Please, every potato from the warm-up tray is peeled by hand over the water channel.
Buying the Rusty Knife gives you an immediate tool step before you have enough currency for workbench modifications or drum machinery. Thin, controlled cuts keep the skin coming off without carving away the potato flesh underneath.
Cost tier and table position
At a printed cost of 0.30 (numeric value 0.3), Rusty Knife is the least expensive purchase in the entire table and sits at sequence row 1 of 9. It costs one ninth of the next blade upgrade, the Steel Knife at 2.70, and one fortieth of the Kitchen Table expansion at 12.
Because 0.30 is reached during early hand peeling, players pick up the Rusty Knife right after clearing the opening First Cut and Warmed Up milestones at the counter.
Shift handling and hotfix notes
Manual blade handling at the counter follows several rules introduced in Hotfix 1.0.1 and Hotfix 1.0.2. Turning on Invert Y in settings flips only the camera view while knife strokes continue to follow normal mouse or controller stick movement, and a separate slider controls hand-shake intensity.
If you play on Hard difficulty, the counter enforces Strict peeling rather than No Mercy. Even later in the run when Muscle Memory is active, the last skin spots on a potato can still require a manual pass with your knife.
