Workstation role and effect
Claw Crane is the heavy outdoor loader that grabs large batches of potatoes from the outdoor pile and drops them into the hopper. It replaces repeated bucket and wheelbarrow trips in the yard with overhead claw loads.
Buying the crane also activates the outdoor pile recount timer, which periodically tallies and restacks the remaining mountain outside the bunker.
Cost tier and table position
At a printed cost of 2,100 (numeric value 2100), Claw Crane is the highest-priced item in the entire nine-row upgrade table. Notice that it appears at sequence row 7 of 9 even though rows 8 and 9—Sack Cableway at 1,250 and Overclock at 1,400—have lower printed prices.
Using the sort toggle on the main upgrades board switches Claw Crane from seventh position in table order to ninth position in ascending cost order.
Shift handling and hotfix notes
Hotfix 1.0.2 overhauled crane timing and yard drops: the pile recount starts only after you buy the crane and runs every 6 minutes, or every 2.5 minutes when crane autopilot is turned on (shortened from the 3-minute off-camera restack in Hotfix 1.0.1).
In addition, the yard loudspeaker now announces every second recount instead of calling every single one, and supply drops land on the ground or snow rather than snagging on the crane frame.
