Unlock condition and board standing

A Thousand Peels sits at row 3 of 20 on the Steam board (API key ACH_PEEL_1000) as a visible achievement with the description Peel 1,000 potatoes, by hand or by machine. Unlocked by 67.0% of players, it marks the transition from small counter batches into four-digit shift production.

Unlike These Hands Were Made for Peeling (which requires 1,000 manual knife peels), A Thousand Peels counts every finished potato regardless of whether you stripped it with a knife blade or ran it through a mechanical drum.

Shift context and related milestones

In the board relation chain, A Thousand Peels connects backward to Warmed Up (97.3%) and forward to Ten Thousand (55.1%, Peel 10,000 potatoes). Most players cross the 1,000-potato line after installing the Crank Peel Machine (20 printed cost) or the motorized Auto Peel Machine (280 printed cost).

If you choose to peel the first 1,000 tubers entirely by hand at the counter, you will unlock Old School (500 hand peels), These Hands Were Made for Peeling (1,000 hand peels), and A Thousand Peels along the same manual streak.

Workstation notes and version 1.0.2 details

As batch volume climbs toward 1,000 tubers, keeping the indoor water channel flowing prevents bottlenecks between the drums and the output chute. Hotfix 1.0.2 boosted the top two water channel speed tiers and removed late-game channel slowdowns.

When loading sacks into machine hoppers to speed up your first thousand peels, aim for the center of the hopper opening so every potato drops cleanly inside.
